Clinical Psychologist
A bit about me
I am a Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience treating clients with a range of psychological challenges. These include anxiety and worry, depression, trauma, regulating anger and other emotions, chronic pain, insomnia, substance misuse and problematic habits, perfectionism, low self-esteem, grief and adjustment to life changes.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I draw on other evidence-based therapies to best tailor treatment to each client’s individual needs, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Schema Therapy. I care deeply about building warm, encouraging and collaborative therapeutic relationships with my clients.

Over the past 12 years, I have worked in a range of clinical settings, primarily with adult clients across the lifespan. I have a keen interest and experience in treating current and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force. I have also supported preschool and primary school children and their families to address behaviour problems, anxiety and emotion dysregulation. I completed my Bachelor of Advanced Science (Psychology) and Master of Psychology (Clinical) at the University of NSW in 2012.
I am a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACAP) of the professional association of German psychologists (BDP). I am accredited with Medicare, DVA and Open Arms.

What to expect
First contact
When you make contact with me, I will arrange a convenient time for a free 15-minute phone call. This is necessary for me to understand your needs and determine whether I can assist you.
The first appointment
The goal of the first appointment is for me to ‘come up to speed’, i.e. to understand in detail the challenges you are experiencing at the moment, and the broader context of these issues. I will mainly do this by asking questions; I will also ask you to complete some questionnaires. At the end of the first appointment, we will discuss a plan for treatment. The first appointment is usually a longer (90 minute) session.
Regular therapy sessions
In therapy, we will work together to better understand the difficulties you face, to build on your strengths and the strategies that are already working for you, and to develop new skills. Therapy continues between appointments, as you will practice these new strategies. We will then review and fine-tune your skills and practices in later sessions. Regular therapy appointments can be face-to-face or video-based. They usually take 50 minutes.
Fees
The fee for a standard 50-minute therapy appointment is $255.
Payment is required in full by credit card at the time of the appointment.
Medicare rebates
Clients with a Mental Health Treatment Plan from their GP or psychiatrist are eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 individual therapy sessions per calendar year. You are required to provide the Mental Health Treatment Plan at the first appointment, and must see your GP or psychiatrist for a review after 6 sessions.
The current Medicare rebate is $141.85 per session with a Clinical Psychologist.
Private health fund rebates
If you do not use Medicare rebates, you may be eligible to claim the session fees against your private health care cover. Please contact your health fund to find out if you are eligible.
